Superheavy Assault Walker by mangozac Superheavy Assault Walker by mangozac
My first major scratchbuild project, which turned into my first major casting project. Talk about jumping into the deep end! It was intended as a Tau superheavy for Warhammer 40k (I used to play but these days am only interested in the models).

This project was completed over 2 years and ended up being a fully fledged resin model kit. Can now be purchased from [link]

The overall assembled model stands about 300mm tall and I won't be doing anything this big again in a hurry!

Haha well spotted: I've fixed it now: 300mm. Now a 300 metre tall model: that would be impressive!

Is this a 3D Animation Model or a Real Life model. If it is a real life model than what did you make it from?

This is a real physical model. Construction materials for the original were basically styrene (plastic) sheet/tube/rod and two part epoxy putty (Milliput). From this master model silicone moulds were created and the pictured model above is a resin cast made from these moulds.

For those who are interested the (long) build log can be found over on Advanced Tau Tactica: [link]

Thanks for all of the kind comments guys!

Jepray: trust me, unless you're getting paid a wage to create master models then anything bigger than this is just insane. It took two years to do as is because I was juggling a day job and study at the same time ;)

Next on the cards is a bipedal mecha that will stand around 7 inches tall. Similar aesthetic style. For those in the know it will be the equivalent of an Imperial Knight Titan.

i like the colors, the worn down look, and the overall roundness in its design
everything is cohesive (nothing looks like it doesn't belong on it)
excellent detail and handywork

wow, I've been reading about this kit in Dakka dakka for a while now, It is an awesome design, love it. to bad i sold my Tau army a while ago... it really does fit the feel and look of Tau units and the details you got on it are superior to some the other garage Titan type kits... great job. you sure you don't want to make something to take on the Reaver Titans?

very cool, especially considering it's an actual scupture. Nice work on the small dirt details and battle damages. :)
